The Deadline

2017

The Deadline is a conceptual brand of children’s educational products that are meant to normalize the idea of death to the younger generation. Through fun and colourful graphics in items targeted towards children, such as colouring books, crayons and stickers, death is shown as a celebration rather than something to be feared.
Retail-ready packaging was designed to complete the image.
The main product was a series of colouring books that visually explore “death” in fun and engaging ways. Topics such as poisonous plants, physical accidents and the significance of the event in different cultures, were illustrated in a bold black and white style to encourage interaction from users
Booklets were created with mass production in mind, using simple saddle stitch methods and regular printer paper.
On-brand accessories were designed to compliment the colouring books. The crayons were named after euphemisms for death and stickers further explored how death was interpreted in other cultures.
